Each grade of chain serves its purpose in the towing, recovery, industrial, and fire rescue industries. Each one has different sizes available with different working load limits, providing you with a range of strengths. The Grade 70 chain is mostly used for everyday securement jobs along with rigging and logging applications as well. It has a working load limit of between 4,700 lbs. to 11,300 lbs. The Grade 80 chain is mostly used for lifting applications and can be used to craft the ideal chain sling for the job. It has a working load limit of between 3,500 lbs. to 18,100 lbs. The Grade 100 chain is very durable and offers superior strength for the tougher jobs. It has a working load limit of between 5,700 lbs. to 35,300 lbs. The Grade 120 chain is the strongest chain we have available and is mostly reserved for the severe heavy-duty jobs that require optimized strength. It has a working load limit of between 5,200 lbs. and 17,900 lbs.
All of our chains have been engineered to meet and exceed Department of Transportation (DOT) specifications, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) specifications, American Society for Testing and Materials International (ASTM) specifications, and National Association of Chain Manufacturers (NACM) specifications. Note that Grade 70 chains are not approved for overhead lifting. Grade 80, 100, and 120 chains are approved for overhead lifting applications.
