Chain is an excellent alternative to straps thanks to the increase in durability while still offering high-quality holding power and versatility.
Durability for the Tougher Jobs
These chains are equipped with high-quality end fittings that have been engineered to handle the heavy-duty loads with greater efficiency. Providing you with increased versatility, the Grab, Mini Datsun, R, and T Hooks are exactly what you need to cover all your bases. Grab Hooks are excellent for connecting the chain onto an anchoring point along the trailer or for hooking directly into other chain links. The Mini Datsun Hook is designed for providing better security as it can easily slide right into the smaller holes in the undercarriage and can be used for most foreign vehicles. The R Hook is ideal for working with Ford vehicles while the T Hook is ideal for working with General Motors/Chrysler vehicles.
The Working Load Limit of the 1/4” Grade 70 transport chain is 3,150 lbs., and the Working Load Limit of the 5/16” Grade 70 transport chain is 4,700 lbs. This is the maximum safe load for which the chain is designed and applies to new chain and attachments for direct, straight tension in an undamaged condition. Corrosion, wear, damage, or improper loading applications reduce the safe working load limit. All of our chain assemblies are engineered to meet or exceed Department of Transportation (DOT), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), American Society for Testing and Materials International (ASTM), and National Association of Chain Manufacturers (NACM) specifications.
There are a few warnings that you should be aware of before using these chains. Never exceed the working load limit of the chains. Also, make sure that you do not overtighten the chains. Lastly, these chains are not to be used for recovery purposes nor for overhead lifting. Please note that there are a number of factors that will adversely affect the chain, such as bending, shock loading, short hooking, wear, corrosion, fatigue, stretching, cross deck hydraulic loading, improper tie-down angle, and drag damage. Be sure to avoid these while working with chains.

The end fittings are designed to maintain a tight grip on the vehicle, making sure that it isn’t going anywhere.
5/16” Auto Transport Chain
The 5/16” Auto Transport Chain is designed to take on the slightly tougher jobs that require a bit more holding strength. Available in both 6’ and 8’ lengths, this chain is built with the thickness and the durability to handle the heavy-duty jobs with efficiency. It also maintains a certain level of versatility for easier maneuvering and handling. Once the chain is used to secure the vehicle, it makes sure that it keeps its grip, offering optimal security throughout transit.
